January 31
Prayer of the Day
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
—2 Timothy 1:7
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
—Ephesians 4:31–5:2
Lord, thank You for giving my child power, love, and self-discipline. Cause her to be secure in You, being committed to pleasing You in all things, instead of being led solely by her emotions. Protect her from the deception and danger that excessive desire, anger, fear, and sadness can bring. Fill her with the truth that emotions alone, when excessive, may not be a true reflection of reality. When negative emotions rise up, may Your peace that surpasses all understanding rise up further.
