Prayer of the Day
[Jesus] fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Matthew 26:39
Lord, I confess that I often want my will to be done more than Yours, whether in my marriage, family, or personal circumstances. I often want things to be done my way, and I don’t want to face any trials and tribulations in life. Yet You promise that Your ways are higher than my ways, and Your thoughts higher than my thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). Help me to surrender control over my life, and to pray as my Saviour did: “Not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39).
