Lord of heaven and earth, You created all things and sustain all things, and You give us life and breath and everything we need under the sun. Help us to hold fast to the truth that those who fear and seek You lack no good thing (Psalm 34:9–10). Protect us from the love of money, and teach us to be contented with all that You have given us. May we pray as the writer of Proverbs did: “Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, “Who is the LORD?” Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonour the name of my God” (Proverbs 30:8–9).
