Prayer of the Day
Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
—1 Samuel 16:7
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves.

Lord, grant my child the understanding that her identity is not based on how she looks, but on Your love for her. Remind her that while people look at the outward appearance, You look at the heart. Give her strength to take captive thoughts that are not from You and make them obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Grant her wisdom to discern how to dress appropriately for different occasions, and remind her that no matter how she looks, she is precious in Your sight.
